LED strip lights are very popular in homes. They are used for showpieces on the walls, above kitchen cabinets, in bars, and more. These lights are composed of light-emitting diodes that come in different colors and are cut in a straight line so that they form a strip.

For most people, this is enough, but for people that want to install these lights on a curved surface, there are special considerations to be made. LED strip lights can be difficult to install and if you don’t do it properly, they can fall off, or worse, get damaged. This blog shows you how to keep led light strips from falling off.

Problems You Might Face

LED strip lights are awesome and perfect for creating dazzling light shows in your home. They are easy to install, versatile, and energy-efficient. LEDs are also extremely tough and durable. However, they are not indestructible.

The problem with LED strip lights is that they are encased in a flexible plastic casing. This casing can be torn or punctured and if one of the LEDs breaks, then it can cause a short circuit across the entire strip. This can result in damage to the circuit board or power supply.

Factors That Cause Such Problem

There are a variety of factors that can cause your LED strip lights to not stick. The first thing to check is the quality of the adhesive. If the adhesive is low quality, then it may not hold up to the elements or temperature.

The poor-quality adhesive may not be strong enough to keep the lights on the wall, especially if the surface is textured. Next, you might want to check if the adhesive is compatible with the LED strip lights you’re trying to stick to a surface.

Temperature can also play a part in poor adhesion. If you have a particularly cold area, the temperature could cause the adhesive on the back of the LED strip to not be as sticky. Taking precautions such as keeping your LED light strip in a room with more elevated temperatures can solve this problem.

Also, if the LED lights have been in the sun for a while, the adhesive may have melted and is, therefore, less sticky. If the LED strip light is warm, it’s important to make sure the adhesive is cool, so it doesn’t bond immediately with the wall.

The last reason is if there is too much air between the LED strip light and the wall. If the LED strip light is too far away, the adhesive won’t be able to adhere to the wall and the light will fall off. These factors can all come into play when trying to find a solution to the problem.

Best Way To Keep LED Strips From Falling Off

One way to keep your LED lights from falling off is to simply use electrical tape to cover the wires and the terminal points. There is a better solution though — buy a strip light holder and connect the strip light directly to it. This provides a better solution and will also keep the strip from falling off. Let’s discuss some solutions in detail.

3M Backing Tape

Keeping LED strip lights in the right place can be a bit difficult. I went around and looked at the other types to see if they had any better methods, but many of them did not have anything as effective enough, especially for larger projects. However, I did find a solution that works wonders.

3M makes double-sided tape that is super sticky and stays put. It’s not only very easy to install, but it is also too easy to remove. You can pull it up and get it off without damaging or leaving behind any residue. This tape sticks to practically all surfaces and keeps the LED strip lights in place.

LEDs strips are light, but they can be heavy when you’re trying to keep them in place. This blog is a guide on how to keep LED Strip lights from falling off. First, you need to figure out where you’re going to secure the lights. Then you need to cut the 3M backing tape depending on the distance between your first and last connectors on each end.

You also need to make sure you plug the lights low enough so that you don’t knock them down while you’re walking around. If you want to be thorough, you can put the tape over each connector’s edges. Once you’ve done that, you’re all set!

Fix Using Clips

Sometimes, your LED lights might slip off the wall. If you seem to be always struggling to keep your LED strip lights on the wall, this could be caused by a lack of clips or a lack of adhesive. First, you should make sure that you are fully aware of how much weight your LED strip lights can support. This is usually indicated by the wattage and the amperage.

Next, you should check to see if you have purchased the adhesive correctly. Make sure you have purchased the adhesive that matches the weight of your LED strip lights, otherwise they won’t stick to the wall.

The adhesive must also be put on correctly, or else it won’t hold. First, clean the wall to which the lights were attached. Then, re-attach your light strip to the wall with the clips. It’s important to keep it straight and level. Otherwise, you’ll have a mess in your hands.

Glue

Stop LED light strips from falling

If you’ve ever purchased LED strips, you’ve probably noticed that they can be a bit hard to mount. If you’re like me, you probably ended up with a very short strip of lights stuck to the back of your TV or computer monitor because you didn’t have any clips! If you’re ever in this situation, there are a few things you can try.

First, try putting a drop of hot glue on the back of the lights that is safe for plastics. You can also try adding a bit of E-6000 glue or 3M Command strips. Then, put another drop of glue where you want to attach the strip light to the surface.

Finally, you can use a weight to hold it in place as the glue dries, and then you’re all done! This is a cheap and easy way to make your LED strip lights stay on the surface you want them on.

There is a bit of controversy when it comes to whether you should use hot glue or adhesive to stick down LED strips to a surface or project case. While a certain type of glue works perfectly fine, it’s not always the best solution to the problem.

The main problem with using glue is that it is a permanent solution, and while this may sound like a good thing, it can be a hassle to remove the LED lights and have to stick them back down if you need to take a project apart later on. Some users have even reported that glue traps dust and can keep the LEDs from being seen.

Extrusion

The best way to help keep the lights on your LED strip lights from falling off is to use extrusion. Extrusion is the process of forming a material into a desired cross-sectional shape by forcing it through a die. This can be used to solve problems with LED strip lights that don’t stay on the surface you put them on.

You will want to cut the amount of extrusion to the exact length between the back of the strip light and the wall. Then, use a drill to make four holes in the extrusion, two bigger holes on each side, and two small holes in the center.

Then, take the extrusion and press it on the back of the strip light, making sure the holes line up with the lights. Once you have it in place, put the screws in the small holes and once they’re in, put in the large screws from the side holes.

Other Methods

These great lights are bound to fall off of your wall. Or worse, fall on your head when you least expect it! So, I came up with a simple solution to keep the lights from falling by adding a bracket that holds the lights in place.

To begin, you will need to choose a place on the wall where you’re going to place your bracket. You should also measure how far away the bracket should be from the wall and the strip of lights that it’s going to hold. Use this information to purchase the right-sized bracket. Then, use the power drill to drill holes where you’ve marked the bracket so that it will be able to be screwed into the wall.

The most common method for securing LED strip lights is to use Velcro. It’s better than tape, but it is not the best method. It doesn’t stick to most surfaces very well and it can be removed by someone who knows where to find it.

Another method for mounting light strips is to put tacks in the LED strip

Some Recommended Precautions

This is a common question and you must get the answer right. It is important to follow the instructions carefully and completely. Failure to follow the instructions can give you an inaccurate result.

First, do not use some strips outside. They are not waterproof and therefore you will cause them to short circuit. Second, only use the adhesive along the top where it ends and not close to the ends.

The first step in “how to make LED strip lights stick” is to clean off the area you wish to attach the lights. Then, you need to peel back the backing so they can stick to the wall. You can use a strong adhesive to make the lights stick and then use the plastic to enshroud the lights around the edges to hold them in place.

It’s important not to spray too much adhesive, as that will create a sticky mess. Make sure you test it on a small area to make sure it’s right or else you’ll have to remove the lights and clean off the debris.

You’ll also want to make sure you have a good LED light source. It’s important to invest in high-quality LED lights, otherwise, your investment will be a waste of money. If you’ve got a project, big or small, around the house and you’re wondering why LED strip lights won’t stick, you may have made a simple mistake.

You may be trying to stick them to something that’s too smooth, like a surface that’s painted, a glass surface, or perhaps even a very slick material like ceramic. If you’re planning on putting them on a flat, smooth surface, you should use a mounting adhesive.

This is a special type of glue that will work on a variety of surfaces since LED strip lights are usually flexible and meant for any clean surface. If you follow these steps you will be able to use your LED strip lights without any problems. These are great lights to stick on the wall and it’s very easy to use them.

Conclusion – How to keep LED light strips from falling off
